After a tumultuous last few months, Credit Suisse Asset Management is celebrating after winning the Creditflux Manager of the Year award for the third year running. CSAM picked up the trophy last night at Creditflux’s CLO Manager Awards at the Landmark Hotel last night.
The awards host, renowned voice actor Peter Dickson (whose credits range from Britain’s Got Talent to Osbournes Reloaded) kept the audience entertained with squeals of laughter (yes, you in the back row) as he continually referred to portfolio managers as collateralised loan obligators, and threw expletives at banking regulators.
Other success stories include Elmwood Asset Management which won three awards for its prowess in US CLO management, while Redding Ridge, Fair Oaks and Spire each collected one win for their European CLOs.
But CSAM’s achievement stands tall. It has now won the prestigious manager of the year crown on five occasions. No other firm has won it more than twice.
On picking up the trophy in front of a packed house, CSAM’s Andrew Marshak quipped that he’d learned from his mistake last year when he vacated his seat an inopportune moment, depriving him of the chance to bask in the glow of yet another award win.
Elmwood walked away with more trophies than anyone though, triumphing for best US CLO, best new US CLO and best US CLO manager. It marks a rapid rise for the firm, which launched its first CLO in early 2019.
Redding Ridge Asset Management won four awards in 2022 and backed that up by picking up the award for best new European CLO. But Creditflux’s data-driven methodology means that managers of all sizes can triumph and this was underlined by Fair Oaks Capital winning the award for best European CLO.
A familiar name was atop the podium as the leading European CLO manager with Spire Partners scooping up yet another Creditflux trophy, underlining its consistency over the years.
The middle market CLO awards were shared between First Eagle (best new middle market CLO); Cerberus (best middle market CLO); and Antares (best middle market CLO manager).
