According to Mergermarket data, Spain registered 447 financial sponsor transactions in 2022, totalling EUR 33.3bn, a -26% decrease in value from the previous year, but a 17% increase in the volume of transactions. The private equity industry has proved resilient but has been slowing gradually due to global macroeconomic challenges. This panel will review:
- What is the state of Iberian fundraising?
- Is there a bifurcation in the fundraising market as institutional investors stick with existing GP relationships?
- What is the source of investment for Iberian activity? Cross-border transactions?

Pablo is a Corporate M&A partner at Gómez-Acebo & Pombo.
He specialises in M&A, private equity and energy. He also has experience in restructuring and distressed transactions, as well as in corporate and contract Law.
He holds a degree in Law from the University of Valladolid (Spain) and Universitá degli Studi La Sapienza (Rome, Italy).
Pablo is one of the most active lawyers in M&A in Spain.
He has also participated as an author in several specialised legal publications (Aranzadi, Wolters Kluwer) or national economic newspapers (El Economista), and teaches at different business schools (ISDE, ICADE, Instituto de Capital Riesgo, Fundación Rafael del Pino).
Pablo is a trustee of the Fernando Pombo Foundation.
Member of Sherpa Capital Management Committee
Management of the Portfolio Investment team for the Special Situations fund, in charge of the investment and divestment studies and execution for this fund.
He is also a member of the Boards of Directors of several portfolio companies of Sherpa Capital such as Dogi International Fabrics, Hedonai and Macrolibros.

Prior to Fremman, Jaime was a Director at PAI Partners. He previously worked at Portobello Capital and Deutsche Bank. He has worked on 7 deals and more than 9 add-ons.
Jaime holds a double degree in Business Administration and Law from Universidad Complutense de Madrid. He is fluent in English and Spanish.
Gonzalo Santos joined Advent in 2015. He previously spent nine years at TPG Capital LLP in London where he was in charge of Spanish coverage for both the Private Equity and the Special Situations business of TPG. Prior to that he worked for four years in the investment banking division of Goldman Sachs in London.
Gonzalo holds a dual degree in Business Administration and law from Icade in Madrid.
