M&A League Tables 3Q22: Financial Advisors

Once again, Goldman Sachs dominated Mergermarket's global financial advisory league tables in terms of total deal value. Goldman topped the table in the first three quarters of 2022, advising on US$996.2 billion of deal activity over this period – allowing the firm to stay in the same first place position as the same period the previous year.

JP Morgan and Morgan Stanley also maintained their positions in second and third place, respectively. JP Morgan advised on US$715.4 billion worth of transactions globally, while Morgan Stanley advised on US$713.9 billion in deal activity.

Goldman not only dominated the league table by value globally, but across several regions as well, coming in first place in Europe and the US. JP Morgan was the top advisor by value in Latin America, while Morgan Stanley was the top advisor by value in Japan.

By deal volume, the top firm globally was PwC, which worked on 487 transactions over the course of Q1-Q3 this year. Deloitte came in second place, having advised on 419 deals over the same period. EY advised on 344 deals in the three quarters, moving up one spot to third place from its fourth-place position in the same period in 2021.
