Tokyo, 16th September 2022 – Mergermarket, the world’s leading news and intelligence service for mergers & acquisitions, announced the winners of its Japan M&A Awards 2022 on 16 September 2022.
The Japan M&A Awards recognise financial and legal advisory excellence in Japan-related deals and are based on analysis of Mergermarket’s league table data, with input from an independent judging panel of ten industry experts and three professionals from ION Analytics.
From the financial adviser nominations, Mergermarket named Morgan Stanley as M&A Financial Adviser of the Year, as well as the Financial Services M&A Financial Adviser of the Year, Industrials & Chemicals Financial Adviser of the Year, and Technology, Media & Telecom M&A and Outbound M&A Financial Adviser of the Year.
Nomura Holdings, Inc was awarded the Mid-Market M&A Financial Adviser of the Year and the Consumer M&A Financial Adviser of the Year.
Houlihan Lokey was awarded the Boutique M&A Financial Adviser of the Year.
From the legal adviser nominations, Nishimura & Asahi won the most awards including M&A Legal Adviser of the Year, Mid-Market M&A Legal Adviser of the Year, Consumer M&A Legal Adviser of the Year, Financial Services M&A Legal Adviser of the Year, Industrials & Chemicals Legal Adviser of the Year, Pharmaceuticals, Medical and Biotech M&A Legal Adviser of the Year and Outbound M&A Legal Adviser of the Year.
White & Case was awarded the Technology, Media & Telecom M&A.
In the private equity sector, the Private Equity Deal of the Year Large Cap and Mid Cap were awarded to The Carlyle Group for its acquisition of JAG Energy and Apollo for its acquisition of MAFTEC respectively, while Nagashima Ohno & Tsunematsu won the Private Equity Legal Adviser of the Year. ENEOS Corporation’s acquisition of Japan Renewable Energy Corporation was named the M&A Deal of the Year (Corporate Winner).
