Michael Yu is a corporate partner at Cooley and at CYL & Partners, a firm of Hong Kong solicitors that practices in association with Cooley HK. His practice focuses on initial public offerings and other equity capital markets transactions on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, pre-IPO investments, public takeovers and listing rules and securities regulations compliance.
Michael has actively participated in the strategic initiative by the Hong Kong Stock Exchange to attract new-economy companies to list in Hong Kong. In particular, he advised Ascletis Pharma on its $400 million Hong Kong IPO in 2018, the first pre-revenue biotech IPO on the HKEX under its new listing regime for companies from emerging and innovative sectors. He has also advised a number of new-economy companies, including companies in biotech and internet sectors, on their Hong Kong IPOs.
Michael was recognized in IFLR1000 2019 as a Notable Practitioner for equity capital markets work.
Michael received his LLM from New York University School of Law, his LLB from Peking University Law School and BA from Peking University. He is a native Mandarin speaker and is also fluent in English. Michael is admitted to practice in Hong Kong (Solicitor) and New York.
Shin is Managing Partner at GLOBIS Capital Partners. Shin leads GLOBIS’s investments in mobile, digital media, and web services. Shin takes a hands-on approach to his portfolio companies initiating strategy development, organization/process development, partnership development, and global expansion.
His track record includes: IPO iStyle (ticker TSE 3660), Aucfan (3674), Kayac (3904), Pixta (3416), and Mercari (4385); M&A Shimauma Print System (acquired by CCC), and nanapi (acquired by KDDI). His portfolio includes Lancers, Viibar, Timers, Coubic, Reblue, and Mirrative etc. Selected as Forbes Japan Midas List Most Influential Venture Investor 2018.
Prior to Globis, Shin led management consulting projects at Arthur D. Little where he developed corporate strategy, new business strategy and innovation strategy for leading IT service providers and software companies. Shin received BA in Economics from University of Tokyo (graduation thesis with Honor), and MBA from Harvard Business School (Second Year Honor). Shin has 8 years of overseas experience in England, Holland and the US.
Prior to joining EQT Ventures, Ted co-founded a number of successful digital agencies, including Speedway Digital Army (1997), Abel & Baker (1999) and Great Works (2002). Great Works has been part of the North Alliance (NOA), Scandinavia’s leading communications and technology network, since 2014.
While at Great Works, Ted also co-founded Our/Vodka, a global vodka made by local people in cities around the world run by Pernod Ricard.
Ted is a Partner at EQT Ventures and is passionate about all things product design, UX, storytelling and branding-related.
Ted currently acts as an advisor to a number of creative schools and startups, including Hyper Island and Atsoko International.
Tom joined Adams Street’s Growth Equity team in 2013 and focuses primarily on growth investments in healthcare technology.
Prior to joining Adams Street, he was a Vice President at Summit Partners, where he sourced, evaluated, and executed investments in the healthcare and technology sectors. Previously, Tom worked at The Edgewater Funds, where he assisted in investment activities including new deal generation, diligence, and portfolio company operations. His background also includes experience with JP Morgan Chase, where he was responsible for business development and credit analysis within the commercial banking segment.
Tom is a member of Adams Street’s Growth Equity Investment Committee and Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee.
