Michael Liu is the Head of Asia Secondary at Portfolio Advisors, a global private asset manager with over $75 billion in AUM. Michael brings 17 years of experience in the private equity industry. Prior to joining Portfolio Advisors in 2013, he was a Vice President in the UOB Investment Management Division, where he was actively involved in investing in Asian private equity through primary, secondary and co-investments. Michael is a graduate of Nanyang Technological University.
Based in Geneva, Eric leads the overall strategic development of Flexstone Partners. He serves on the European Audit Committee, the Global Advisory Investment Committee, the US, European and Asian Investment Committees and the Compensation Committee. He promotes and supports Flexstone sustainability conviction and approach.
Eric founded Euro Private Equity in 2005, a predecessor to Flexstone Partners. Previously, he was the Director of DB Capital Venture Partners, the European Venture Capital arm of Deutsche Bank in London and Dubai. Previously, Eric was an investment executive at CSFB Private Equity in London, where he worked primarily on pan-European Buyouts investment opportunities. Earlier, he worked in structured finance with BNP Paribas in Sao Paulo, Paris and New York, specializing in leveraged buyouts, infrastructure financing, mezzanine debt and investments in private equity funds.
Eric earned his MBA from Harvard Business School and his BS in finance from Neoma (France).
He currently sits on the advisory board of several private equity funds and is a past board member of several private and publicly traded companies as well as not-for-profit organizations.
Josh Stern joined the Investment Office of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation in January 2012. At the Foundation Mr. Stern is part of the group overseeing all private investments. Mr. Stern came to the Foundation from Rockefeller University where he was responsible for the private investment portfolio. In that role he oversaw a portfolio of Venture Capital, Buyout and Growth Capital and Real Assets investments. Previously he worked at Standard & Poor's as a director in the Higher Education and Not-for-Profit Group, which was part of the Public Finance Department. At S&P Mr. Stern worked closely with a large number of universities and foundations across the United States. Over the course of his career he also worked as an investment banker, focusing on higher education institutions. Mr. Stern received an M.P.A. in public finance from the Maxwell School at Syracuse University, an M.S. in non-profit management from New York University and a B.A. in history and sociology from Binghamton University.
Erwin Afinidad is a Senior Investment Manager at the A$63b Australian Commonwealth Superannuation Corporation (CSC), which manages the pension assets of Australian Commonwealth Government civilian employees and members of the Defence forces. Erwin’s primary responsibility is the management of CSC’s private equity investments, which include the due diligence and monitoring of funds and co-investments. Erwin also represents CSC on various Limited Partner Advisory Committees. Prior to joining CSC in 2018, Erwin worked with AMP Capital, with his final role as Portfolio Manager of the global private equity program.
Erwin has a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of Technology Sydney, where he was a co-operative scholarship recipient. Erwin has also obtained the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.
