Xiaoxi Lin is a partner based in Morrison Foerster’s Hong Kong office. Xiaoxi Lin has over 15 years’ experience advising private equity and investment fund clients on their most complex and strategic transactions, including control and leveraged buyouts, growth capital investments and public takeovers.
Xiaoxi is one of the most experienced practitioners in Asia in U.S. public transactions, including take privates, PIPE (private investment in public equity) and SPAC/de-SPAC transactions.
He has significant experience advising both financial sponsors and corporations on M&A transactions, with a particular focus on the technology, healthcare and energy sectors, as well as inbound and outbound investments related to China and the U.S.
Xiaoxi has advised a wide range of financial sponsors across the U.S. and Asia, including Advantage Partners, Bain, Baring Private Equity Asia (now EQT Private Capital Asia), Carlyle, Centurium Capital, China Everbright, CITIC Capital/Trustar Capital, C Capital, Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB), DCP, Evenstar Capital, Genesis Capital, GF Capital, GP Investments, Hammer Capital, Hillhouse, KKR, Malaysia’s sovereign wealth fund, Mubadala, Ocean Link, Orchid Asia, PAG, Snow Lake, Thomas H. Lee Partners, TPG and Warburg Pincus.
Xiaoxi has been ranked as “Next Generation Partner” for Private Equity in Hong Kong by The Legal 500 Asia Pacific and recommended for Private Equity in China and Hong Kong.
Thomas is Managing Partner and Head of Southeast Asia at CDH Investments, a leading alternative asset manager in Asia. Based in Singapore, Dr. Lanyi and his team pursue structured investment opportunities across all major markets in Southeast Asia, with a focus on Vietnam, covering a broad range of sectors, transaction types and stages. Dr. Lanyi also co-leads CDH’s global China cross-border practice.
Dr. Lanyi has worked in Private Equity in Asia since the late 1990s. Prior to joining CDH in 2012, he held senior management roles at Mekong Capital in Vietnam and Templeton Private Equity in Singapore.
Dr. Lanyi earned a Doctorate with distinction in Capital Markets Theory & Econometrics from the Vienna University of Economics and obtained a CEMS Masters degree in International Management from HEC Paris.
He has been actively involved with developing the regional alternative assets management industry and community, chairing the Singapore Venture Capital and Private Equity Association (SVCA) between 2017 and 2021. Dr. Lanyi makes an impact by serving on a number of corporate and charitable boards such as the German European School of Singapore, and he acts as an advisor to the Vietnam Private Capital Association (VPCA).
Kyle is the Founder and Managing Partner of ShawKwei & Partners, a private equity investment firm established in 1998. ShawKwei & Partners has offices in Singapore, San Francisco and Shanghai managing investments in Asia, Europe, and the USA. Kyle’s private equity experience before ShawKwei & Partners included managing Asian private equity businesses for Security Pacific National Bank (Hong Kong) and then the Tudor Group (Shanghai) as well as in the energy industry with Union Texas Petroleum (Houston), Tidewater (Louisiana & Singapore) and McDermott (Indonesia). Kyle has served as a director of several Asian and European industrial and service companies including as founder and director of Flex Ltd. (formerly known as Flextronics International Ltd).
Kyle received an MBA from the Wharton School at University of Pennsylvania, a BS in Commerce from the McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia, as well as studied Mandarin Chinese at Taiwan’s National Normal University.
Steve Duncan is a Business Unit Partner at TPG Capital Asia based in Melbourne and has been with TPG since 2020. Steve is the Chairman of Made Group, one of Australia’s largest healthy food and beverage businesses and Five Good Friends, a technology-enabled homecare provider. He was previously a director of iNova Pharmaceuticals and logistics software company Containerchain.
Prior to joining TPG, Steve worked with CPE Capital across their Australia and Singapore offices for approximately nine years.
Steve holds a B.Commerce (Hons) Finance & Accounting from the University of New South Wales and an MBA jointly issued by Columbia Business School and London Business School.
