John J. Ray III is an attorney and CEO with over 40 years of legal and restructuring experience. He has served as the Chief Restructuring Officer in several of the largest corporate failures in history including Enron, where he was tasked with recovering creditor funds in the wake of its accounting scandal and subsequent collapse. Other notable bankruptcy cases he has led include Residential Capital, Nortel Networks, Overseas Shipholding, and, most recently, crypto exchange FTX. Nearly every situation in which he has been involved has been characterized by failures in internal controls, regulatory compliance, human resources, and systems integrity.
Before Enron, he served as general counsel of Waste Management and Fruit of the Loom, where managed the sale of the company’s assets in their Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
Ray currently serves as Managing Director of restructuring firm Owl Hill Advisory.
