Sullivan & Cromwell came first in the Mergermarket global legal advisor rankings for the first half of 2023 having advised on 87 M&A deals with a total value of $226.2bn. Latham & Watkins placed second with $205.7bn despite having worked on 253 transactions. Stikeman Elliott was the fastest riser in the top 20, climbing to 20th from 103th in the first half of last year. It advised on deals worth $51.7bn.
By deal count, Goodwin Procter took the first place, having worked on 373 transactions, followed by Kirkland & Ellis on 307. DLA Piper, which ranked first in the first half of 2022, narrowly missed out on second place by six deals.
