A new USD 1bn commitment from investors to deliver zero-emissions buses in Latin America was announced at COP26 in late 2021. Smart highways and EV charging stations are being rolled out globally, but is Latin America ready to implement this new technology and does it serve the immediate needs of the region? An increase in both cargo and passenger rail services are included in most countries’ infrastructure plans, but how can international investors access these opportunities?

Wade Aust is one of three US-based Partners of Alantra. He has twenty-two years of M&A experience and is responsible for the Business Services and Industrials sectors. He travels extensively between the US, Continental Europe and the UK. He competed on the 1984 and 1988 U.S. Olympic Sailing Teams and worked as a coach in the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta. He received his bachelor’s degree in Finance and Mathematics from Salve Regina University and is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).
Juan Ricardo Noero is a Managing Director at Augment Infrastructure with 30 years experience in infrastructure project structuring and management. Between 2010 and 2022, he was CEO of Puerto Bahía S.A., a large-scale port terminal in Colombia for which he led planning, design, financing, construction and operations. Juan Ricardo also served as Deputy Minister of Transport and Infrastructure of Colombia between 2002 and 2006 where he was responsible for the structuring of over US3 billion in infrastructure projects across the country.
Juan Ricardo has an MBA from SDA Bocconi and a BSc from Universidad de los Andes, Bogotá.cture with 30 years experience in infrastructure project structuring and management. Fradyn Suárez is a partner in King & Spalding’s Project Finance practice resident in the Miami office. Fradyn has more 20 years of experience representing stakeholders in connection with complex finance transactions and restructurings and other investments in the United States, Latin America, and the Caribbean. Her practice is mostly focused on project finance, with a concentration in development banks, infrastructure and energy. She has extensive experience working with both lenders and sponsor groups and regularly serves as finance counsel to various energy and infrastructure companies with investments in the United States and Latin America.
