According to an Inframation article in July 2021, demand for digital infrastructure exceeds current levels of investment, with an estimated EUR 65bn-100bn needed to match the EU’s 2025 objective. This demand for the asset class has only been accelerated by the global pandemic, as the need for increased connectivity and broadband communication services has soared. At the same time, managers must pay close attention to ESG considerations when making digital infrastructure investments as the sector grows. Our panel of digital infrastructure experts and managers will take stock of the top sectors and opportunities in the region.

Oliver Bradley is Managing Director, Digital Infrastructure Investing at Macquarie Capital, the advisory, capital markets and principal investment arm of Macquarie Group Limited. The Digital Infrastructure team invests directly in and supports the growth of companies that are facilitating the increasing data consumption of businesses and consumers, including fibre networks and data centres.
Since returning to Macquarie in 2019 (he previously worked at the firm from 2005-15), Oliver has led Macquarie Capital’s investment into Voneus, a UK rural Fixed Wireless to Fibre broadband developer and Onivia, a new SPV Macquarie established to acquire Fibre to the Home networks in Spain, creating Spain’s first wholesale only FTTH network with a footprint in excess of 2m homes.
Prior to re-joining Macquarie, Oliver was Corporate Finance Director at CityFibre, where he played a leading role in their transformative FTTH contract with Vodafone, infrastructure debt raise and sale to infrastructure funds.
Before CityFibre, Oliver was a commercial specialist at the Infrastructure and Projects Authority, part of the UK government. There he advised ministers on digital infrastructure policy and was responsible for the Digital Infrastructure Investment Fund, which saw the UK government commit £400m, matched by private sector investors on the same terms, to a commercial investment fund focused on investing in full fibre infrastructure.

Coralie works in the infrastructure investment team at InfraVia Capital Partners, where she originates new investment opportunities and executes transactions. She has 10 years of experience in the telecom sector and is passionate about the digital infrastructure world. Naturally curious, she spends a lot of time engaging with new partners, digging for ideas and new deals. She has been involved on several high profile capital markets and M&A transactions across Europe and the US before joining InfraVia in 2018.
Nick heads the firm's TMT and digital economy group from its London office and has close to 30 years experience. He advises an impressive roster of international clients on matters ranging from service rollouts to infrastructure transactions. Clients praise him as "a brilliant legal and practical mind who can quickly cut through complex issues to deliver excellent outcomes".
Nick is recognised in the Hall of Fame for IT and Telecoms by Legal 500 UK 2021, ranked in Band 1 for Telecommunications by Chambers and Partners UK 2021 and has been peer selected as one of the top TMT practitioners by Euromoney in the 'Best of the Best' Expert Guide 2020.
