Jacob Meyer leads coverage of the U.S. economy on the Barings Economic & Thematic Research team. He joined the firm in September 2024. Previously he was on the U.S. economics team at Nomura and covered the North American economy for the Swiss Re. He has worked in financial services since 2018 when he joined UBS as a Quantitative Economist. He holds a bachelors in economics & political science from Ohio University, and an M.A. in economics and Ph.D. in the economics and political science inter-field from Claremont Graduate University. Prior to joining the financial services industry, he published academic research through the Claremont Institute for Economic Policy Studies and taught courses on econometrics and international macroeconomics at California State University Long Beach and Claremont Graduate University.
