Sullivan & Cromwell and Goodwin Procter dominated the global legal advisory tables in the first half of 2022. Sullivan & Cromwell moved up from third place in the first half of 2021 to the top spot in the first six months of 2022 in terms of deal value, advising on US$368.5 billion worth of deals in the first half. Goodwin Procter came out on top in terms of the volume league tables – up from fourth place in the first half of the previous. The firm advised on 492 deals in the first half of 2022.
Simpson Thacher & Bartlett and Skadden placed second and third, respectively, in terms of deal value. Simpson Thacher advised on US$356.3 billion worth of deals in the first half, while Skadden advised on US$245 billion.
By deal volume, Kirkland & Ellis was the second busiest legal advisory firm globally, working on a total of 406 deals across the globe in the first six months of this year. DLA Piper came in third place, down from the top position in H1 2021. The firm served as legal advisors on 383 transactions.
