Private credit: Growing strategies
The current economic landscape, driven by higher interest rates and tighter bank lending, has made private credit an attractive option for private market investors. As the private credit market matures, it is expected that the market will continue to expand into new areas, including asset-backed finance and more bespoke deals. Hojun Kim is a Director in the Private Capital Advisory group and covers investors in Asia. Hojun has been in the private market since 2012 across private equity investment and capital raising for various asset classes in private market.
Prior to joining Lazard, Hojun was a Senior Portfolio Manager at National Pension Service of the Republic of Korea, where he worked on primary fund and co-investment in private equity. Hojun also worked for ORIX Private Equity Korea, a wholly-owned subsidiary of ORIX Group, where he was involved in transactions of private equity investment in South Korea. Hojun began his career at PwC.
Hojun holds a MSc in Finance from London Business School and B.S in Economics from Sungkyunkwan University.
Raymond joined CPPIB in October 2019 and leads our Asia credit business. He is the chair of the APAC Credit Committee and a member of our Global Credit Committee. He is also the co-chair of the Credit Committee of The HKVCA. Prior to joining CPP Investments, he was a managing director at SSG Capital, responsible for special situations investments and secured lending in Greater China.
Previously, Raymond was the head of Greater China at Intermediate Capital Group, senior fund manager at RAB Capital and head of Asia Asset Management at D.B. Zwirn. He started his career with HSBC, departing as a team head of the Real Estate Sector.
Raymond holds a BSSc in Economics from the Chinese University of Hong Kong and an MBA from the EMBA program of the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
Omesh is the Head of Private Credit at Onyx Credit Partners. He has close to 20 years of Credit and M&A experience, and was the Former Lead of Financial and Strategic Investors Group at Standard Chartered, working with private equity funds across S.E.A and Australia on advisory and financing in relation to their portfolio and investments. He has experience across M&A advisory, acquisition finance, growth lending, senior debt, mezzanine debt, and bonds.
Jeff Kim is a Senior Managing Director at Pine Tree Fund, where he leads private credit and special situations investments outside of Korea and serves on the investment committee for Pine Tree Special Situations Fund.
Before joining Pine Tree in 2009, he held roles at GE Capital, Lehman Brothers, and Clearwater Capital Partners. He has over 20 years of experience in restructuring, distressed debt, and special situations across Asia, the U.S., and Europe.
Mr. Park is a Managing Director in the Ares Credit Group, where he focuses on Asia credit. Prior to joining Ares in 2024, he was a Senior Investment Officer at Arkkan Capital, where focused on developing credit opportunities in Korea and Japan. Previously, Mr. Park was a Managing Director and Head of Korea and Japan in the Strategic Investment Group at Deutsche Bank, where he focused on distressed and special situation opportunities as well as private lending and public debt securities trading businesses. In addition, Mr. Park was an Analyst and Asset Manager at Morgan Stanley Properties in Korea, where he specialized in real estate and real estate related distressed loan portfolio investments in Korea and the Greater China region. Mr. Park holds a B.S. from the Boston University's School of Management in Finance.
