Tim Burroughs is managing editor of Asian Venture Capital Journal, having joined the publication in May 2011. He is responsible for all editorial content put out under the AVCJ brand, including Asian Venture Capital Journal, AVCJtv, AVCJ Awards and AVCJ.com. Tim previously spent five years at China Economic Review, serving as editor-in-chief and then editorial director. Located in Greater China since 2003, during which time he has lived in Beijing, Qingdao and Hong Kong, Tim has been a China-based contributor for publications including The Sunday Times, Sunday Telegraph, BBC and China Daily. Prior to moving to China, he trained and worked as a journalist in the UK. He was honored at the Society of Publishers in Asia awards in 2007, 2008 and 2010, and at the State Street Institutional Press Awards - Asia in 2012.
Eric Tam is a Managing Director, having joined Strategic Partners in 2016. Mr. Tam leads the international activities of Strategic Partners’ Real Estate funds and is responsible for establishing and leading Strategic Partners in Asia across all strategies. Mr. Tam sits on Strategic Partners’ Real Estate Investment Committee and is an advisory board member of multiple funds. Mr. Tam is based in Singapore after previously spending seven years in Strategic Partners’ London office.
Prior to joining Strategic Partners, Mr. Tam was a Vice President at H/2 Capital Partners, where he focused on commercial real estate credit investments and capital markets activities. Before joining H/2, Mr. Tam worked at Morgan Stanley for the Real Estate Investment group, focused on acquisitions. Prior to that, Mr. Tam was a Manager at Accenture in their Financial Services practice, specializing in mortgage banking strategy.
Mr. Tam received a B.A. from the University of California at Berkeley and an MBA from Columbia Business School. Mr. Tam serves on the development board of Place2Be, a UK-based children’s and young people’s mental health charity.
David Markson is a senior managing director in Evercore’s Private Capital Advisory group, where he advises limited partners on secondary market liquidity transactions. He focuses on strategic sales and structured liquidity alternatives, providing tailored execution services to institutional investors.
Mr. Markson maintains deep relationships with institutional investors globally and works closely with leading US university endowments, foundations, sovereign wealth funds, public and private pension funds, insurance companies, financial institutions, family offices and other owners of private financial assets. Over his career, Mr. Markson has led more than 250 sell-side LP mandates totaling over $60 billion in aggregate transaction volume.
Prior to joining Evercore in 2021, Mr. Markson worked at Triago since 2009, where he served as head of the secondary advisory group in North America and co-head of the New York office. In that role, he provided strategic advice and executed liquidity solutions for institutional investors in the secondary market.
Mr. Markson holds a Master in Management from ESSEC Business School in Paris and studied at the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College.
At Navis, Mr Bloy leads investment teams in making, monitoring and exiting investments, sits on Navis’ Investment Committee and sits on the boards and/or executive committees of several Navis portfolio companies. Prior to co-founding Navis, Mr Bloy worked at Boston Consulting Group in Asia from 1989 to 1999 after spending 3 years with Bain & Co. In London. He holds a BA Hons degree from University College, London and an MBA from INSEAD, France.
Desmond Lee is a Partner of TPG NewQuest, based in Singapore leading the platform’s business in Southeast Asia and Australia. With more than 20 years of private equity experience in the Asia Pacific region, Desmond joined TPG NewQuest in 2015 and prior to that was a Managing Director of Fosun, where he led the Southeast Asia investment team. Desmond’s private equity experience also includes prior roles with Morgan Stanley and Arctic Capital in Hong Kong, and CIMB Private Equity and Navis Capital Partners in Malaysia. Desmond started his career as a chartered accountant with Arthur Andersen in Malaysia. Desmond is a Fellow Chartered Accountant with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and holds an undergraduate degree in Accounting and Finance from the University of Sheffield, England.
