CloseWeijian Shan is the executive chairman and co-founder of PAG – an Asia-based and focused private equity firm with more than USD50 billion in capital under management.
Between 1998 and 2010, he was co-managing partner of the private equity firm Newbridge Capital (now known as TPG Asia) and a partner of TPG. Shan was a managing director of JP Morgan, where he was concurrently the chief representative for China between 1993 and 1998. He was an assistant professor at the Wharton School, the University of Pennsylvania between 1987 and 1993. He also worked at the World Bank in 1987 as a member of its Young Professionals Program.
Shan is a Trustee of the British Museum. He is also a member of the International Advisory Council of Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited, and an independent director of Alibaba Group.
Shan is the author of Out of the Gobi: My Story of China and America (2019), Money Games: The Inside Story of How American Dealmakers Saved Korea's Most Iconic Bank (2021) and Money Machine – A Trailblazing American Venture in China (February 2023). He has published commentaries in the likes of The New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, the Financial Times, the Economist and Foreign Affairs.
Shan holds an M.A. and a Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, and an M.B.A. from the University of San Francisco. He graduated with a major in English from the Beijing University of International Business and Economics.
Peter Adams joined Vermilion Partners as Managing Director of the Beijing office in 2011 and has over a decade of investment banking and corporate M&A experience in the U.S. and Asia. Prior to joining Vermilion, he spent six years at Siemens, based in their regional headquarters in Beijing, where he was responsible for mergers and acquisitions across Asia. His team completed transactions in China, Japan, Korea, Malaysia and Thailand, during which period Siemens China grew its revenue base from Euro4.5bn to Euro6.4bn.
Prior to joining Siemens, Peter was based in New York, where he worked in Merrill Lynch’s financial institutions group, for whom he also served in their Beijing and Tokyo offices. He subsequently joined International Technology Investment Managers (Asia), a technology venture firm, where he managed capital raising for an Asian direct investment fund; and, Enterprise Air, a software group, where he managed capital raising and mergers and acquisitions strategies; both based in New York. Peter holds a B.A. Magna Cum Laude from Yale University in East Asian Studies and speaks fluent Mandarin and some Japanese.
Peter is based in Beijing and has lived there since 2006. He also lived in Beijing in 1985 and 1995, and in Taiwan in 1986-1987 and 1989-1990
Bagrin Angelov is an M&A Executive Director in the Investment Banking division of China International Capital Corporation Limited (CICC) based in Beijing, where he is exclusively dedicated to China cross-border M&A situations. Mr. Angelov has profound experience in supporting multinational corporations, private enterprises and state owed enterprises with their cross-border M&A undertakings. To date he has advised on 100+ M&A deals globally (both in emerging and developed markets such as USA, Germany, Korea, Japan, Israel and Australia), with a combined transaction value of some US$100bn. Prior to CICC Mr. Angelov worked in the Investment Banking divisions of Barclays, ABN AMRO, The Royal Bank of Scotland, and a Middle Eastern SWF.
Sean is currently a Managing Director at SenseTime AI Fund. Prior to his current role, he was member of executive committee and a partner of China Fusion Group and its buyout fund Boliu Capital which is a USD1.5bio investment vehicle focusing on overseas M&A and investment in IOT, fintech and asset allocation. Previously he was China head of financial sponsors at Deutsche Bank Corporate and Investment Bank where he was responsible for providing full suite of investment banking services including M&A advisory and financing solutions to strategic investor and corporate clients. Prior to that he was Greater China head of strategic equity financing at HSBC Global Banking and Markets as well as an executive director at UBS Investment Bank where he specialized in structuring and selling strategic equity financing and investment products based in Hong Kong, London and New York.
Mr Cai's professional career started at an international law firm on Wall Street as a derivatives and securities lawyer and later joined Barclays Capital around the time of its acquiring Lehman Brothers' North American business when he focused on structured equity capital markets.
Mr. Cai received his PhD in financial economics and JD degrees both from Cornell University. He also graduated first of his class from Fudan University where he got his BA in international economics.
Honghui Cao, current Deputy Director General of China Development Bank's Research & Development Department and CBD's Center for Financial Research & Development, senior expert, a professor and PhD Supervisor of Graduate School of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, specializes in financial market, macroeconomics, payment and settlement, researches about international strategies and investment management for a long time. During his time in CDB, he hosted strategic researches on areas covering Southeast Asia, Central Asia, South Asia, Oceania and Latin America, and set cross-boundary business plans for China's peripheral areas within Asia. He participated in researches of various major projects including "Connectivity and Cooperation within Asia" and "One Belt and One Road Strategy", aiming at establishing a series of major projects in China's peripheral areas within Asia covering transportation, energy, telecommunication and industrial park.
He served as a member of China International Financial Consulting Commission, a member of China Standing Committee for Pacific Economic Cooperation Council, an expert for eastern Asian Finance Cooperation, a financial consultant for APEC and World Bank, an advisory for United Nations Development Programme, a consultant for VISA and an industrial expert to China UnionPay, and assumed roles in several companies as independent chairman. He hosted a series of major subject researches at home and abroad. Cliff Chau joined HOPU Investments in 2012 and serves as CFO, Co-COO and Partner in charge of healthcare investments. Cliff has over 20 years of experience in international financial industry with in-depth financial advisory and management experience in both the U.S. and China. Besides his CFO and Co-COO duties, he focuses on building a HOPU healthcare ecosystem and investing in biotech, medtech and healthcare services companies.
Cliff brings a wealth of experience in investments, risk management, operations and sales & marketing to his approach to healthcare industry. His current portfolio companies include Ambrx Inc., a biopharmaceutical company headquartered in San Diego, Mevion Medical Systems, a proton therapy system company headquartered in Massachusetts and I-Mab Biopharma, a China-based global player in innovative biologics and he sits on the boards of Ambrx and Mevion. In the early stage of his career, Cliff was responsible for the sales and marketing of clinical and laboratory products of Beckman Instruments, Bio-Rad and Merck in China.
Prior to joining HOPU, Cliff was the Managing Director and Head of Finance Department of China Investments Corporation (CIC). He was a member of CIC’s risk management committee and an observer of investment committee. He also represented CIC sitting on the boards of CITIC Capital and China Jianyin Investment Limited. Before CIC, Cliff was a Partner of KPMG’s Transaction Services Practice, where he advised numerous cross-border transactions and was deeply involved with assisting companies to implement their China strategies. He worked at KPMG’s Beijing office and Los Angeles office.
Cliff also sits on the boards of Advisory Committee for the Quantitative Finance Program of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), Sinopec Marketing Company, and The China Tea Company.
Cliff holds an MBA from State University of New York, a BSc. in Biochemistry from CUHK and a C.P.A. State of California.
With more than 30 years of work experience, Ms. Chen has been engaged in engineering design, project management, business development and investment management. She currently serves as the senior executive of flagship subsidiary of Baowu Group and is responsible for corporate business planning and equity investment. Familiar with the M&A process, she has rich experience in participating of large-scale state-owned enterprise in market-based M&A. Given the fact that she personally led several overseas investment and M&A projects, successfully implemented three overseas and multiple domestic M&A transactions, and participated in post-investment management, therefore Ms. Chen owns more thorough understanding and comprehension over it.

He also has long time collaboration with all leading investment banking firms including Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, Merrill Lynch, Credit Suisse, UBS, and JP Morgan. He has extensive experience in deal origination, evaluating cross border acquisitions in a strategic context, and understands the complexity in structuring, valuing, and integrating the acquired companies. He is an experienced negotiator, and has extensive senior level contacts and origination capacity.
Victor Chen is a Partner and Associate Director in BCG Greater China. He is a core member of worldwide Corporate Finance and Strategy practice area, focusing on corporate investment and transactions, and serves as the node of the corporate transaction center in Greater China.
Mr. Chen was a Director of Interpublic Group (NYSE:IPG) a global leading marketing communications consultancy, with strong client experience in consumer retail and sporting goods sectors in Asia-Pacific.
He received his MBA from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business with concentration in strategic management and marketing management.
He is fluent in English and Mandarin.
Charles Ching is a partner in the Corporate Department and the Managing Partner of Weil’s China offices. He regularly represents international and China-based private equity sponsors and corporate clients in mergers and acquisitions, minority investments, PIPEs and other investment transactions, particularly those with a China focus. He has also acted on some of the most prominent cross-border M&A transactions involving China in recent years.
Ranked as a leading lawyer by Chambers, The Legal 500 and IFLR1000, Charles is also named in The Best Lawyers™ in China 2020 and further earned the distinction of 2020 Private Equity and Venture Capital “Lawyer of the Year” in Shanghai. Ms Shengyan Fan joined China Everbright Limited in 2009 and is a Managing Director of the Merger & Acquisition Department. She also serves as a Managing Partner of the CEL Catalyst China Israel Fund and a member of the investment committee of the CEL Global Investment Fund and the CEL Catalyst China Israel Fund.
Ms. Fan has 20 years’ experience in direct investment, capital raising and investment banking businesses. Prior to joining CEL, Ms. Fan has held various positions with increasing responsibility at multinational investment banks.
Ms. Fan holds a BA and a BS from Tsinghua University and an MA from the University of Oxford.
Raymond is the General Counsel, International, of China Travel Service (Holdings) Hong Kong Limited with oversight of the legal, regulatory and enterprise risk management aspects of the Group’s international operations, principal investments and strategic initiatives around the world.
He has received various industry awards over the years, and was recently recognized as one of the most influential corporate counsels in The Legal 500’s GC Powerlist for China and Hong Kong in 2017.
Prior to joining CTS, he spent more than 18 years in various senior management, corporate development and legal and compliance roles with leading diversified conglomerates, a bulge bracket investment bank, and in private practice with Wall Street and Magic Circle law firms where he focused on capital markets transactions, cross-border mergers and acquisitions, technology and telecommunications, strategic initiatives and principal investments across North America, Europe, Asia and Australia.

Herry is Founding Partner of Lightspeed China Partners (LCP), a leading China-focused early-stage venture capital firm with investments in mobile Internet, consumer services, and enterprise IT. LCP manages around $1B assets through three USD funds and one RMB fund. Previously, Herry was an Executive Director with Lightspeed Venture Partners (LSVP), and joined the Shanghai office in 2008. Violet Ho is senior managing director and head of the Greater China Business Intelligence and Investigations practice of Kroll, a division of Duff & Phelps. With over 19 years of professional experience in investigations, and an in-depth understanding of China’s business environment, Violet has successfully advised on numerous highly complex investigative projects in China and beyond.
Violet has led a wide range of risk consulting projects across Greater China, ranging from fraud prevention to investigating instances of white collar crime and distribution scams. She also manages investigative due diligence inquiries and assignments regarding business controls, intellectual property protection, employee risks, corporate security and crisis management.

Violet assisted a multinational electronics manufacturer uncover complex frauds systematically committed by its former country manager throughout his six-year tenure. The quantified financial damage totaled US$15 million. Work performed by the Kroll team enabled the client to activate its existing fidelity insurance policy and provided the client with strong evidence to support its litigation efforts.

Hanji Huang is the founding member of L Capital Asia (which merged with Catterton and was renamed as L Catterton Asia in late 2016), an Investment Committee member, and the Partner in charge of the Greater China region. During his 10 years with L Capital & L Catterton, Mr Huang has been leading his team in the investments in various retail / consumer / fitness brands such as Marubi (IPO in Shanghai Stock Exchange – 603983), GXG (IPO in HK - 1817.HK), Sasseur (REIT in Singapore Exchange – CRPU), Trendy, and Will’s Fitness. Frank Jin is a Managing Director within Morgan Stanley’s Mergers & Acquisitions Department based in Hong Kong. He is currently the M&A Operations Officer for Asia Pacific.
Frank has over 13 years of experience practicing M&A. Prior to joining Morgan Stanley, Frank worked in the Mergers & Acquisitions group at Standard Chartered and the law firm of Sullivan & Cromwell focusing on M&A transactions and leveraged finance in New York and Hong Kong. Frank is dual qualified as a New York lawyer and Hong Kong solicitor.
Frank received a B.Sc. from the University of Toronto, in Biology and Commerce, and a J.D. from Harvard Law School.
Frank’s M&A practice focuses on China-related transactions as well as those involving listed companies in Hong Kong and other venues.
Mr. Lee joined BPEA in 2007. Mr. Lee leads buyout investments as part of the Greater China Investment Team. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Lee was an Associate with private equity firm Tullis-Dickerson based in Greenwich, Connecticut. He began his career in the investment banking division of Goldman Sachs.

Stanford Lin is Vice President & Head of Strategy & Business Development for Nestlé Greater China Region, based in Beijing.
Stanford has nearly 20 years of experience in consumer-facing businesses. Prior to joining Nestlé in 2017, Stanford was Head of Products at Visa China, responsible for Visa’s consumer and commercial card solutions. He also served as chief operating officer for Visa China.
Prior to joining Visa, Stanford worked at Walmart China in a variety of executive roles, including Head of Financial Services and Head of Strategy & Innovation.
Before joining Walmart, Stanford was a management consultant at McKinsey & Company. Early in his career, Stanford practiced corporate and securities law at Davis Polk & Wardwell and served as in-house counsel at Reuters.
Born in the U.S., Stanford holds a BA from Duke University, a JD from Harvard Law School and an MBA from MIT Sloan.
Alastair is co-head of the firm’s Asia competition practice. He has 20 years of practical experience including four years at the UK’s competition authority, the Office of Fair Trading, which included a stint as Director of its mergers division.
He specialises in international cross-border merger review and foreign investment related work, and co-heads the firm’s foreign investment review group.
He is currently a Non-Governmental Adviser to the Hong Kong Competition Commission. Alastair is ranked as a leading lawyer in Chambers 2019 who note “Alastair Mordaunt is regarded by a client as a "top-notch lawyer" and is recognised for his extensive experience in advising leading corporate clients on the full range of competition law mandates, including investigations and merger reviews”.
Raghu Narain brings over 20 years of experience in investment banking, corporate finance and economic policy advisory. Currently, Mr. Narain is Head of Investment Banking for Natixis, APAC with the responsibility to deliver M&A, Acquisition Financing, Strategic Equity, and DCM solutions. Prior to Natixis, Mr. Narain was the Head of Sector Advisory and Global Industrials Group in RBS Asia. In his career, he has undertaken over 100 transactions by financing and advising US$100+ billion in completed deals for global companies. He has advised major global entities including Eurazeo, Sanyuan, Tsinghua, Continental Airlines, Fosun, GVK, Lafarge, MISC, MGM, Reliance, Shanghai Electric, Vedanta and UPS. Prior to working in Asia, he was at Bank of America in New York where he was a Director responsible for M&A and capital raising activities for the Global Transportation and Logistics Group. Mr. Narain began his investment banking career with Salomon Smith Barney / Citigroup in New York.
Mr. Narain has also worked at Bridgewater Associates as an Investment Associate and in the field of development finance at the Harvard Institute for International Development (HIID). He completed his Masters degree from Harvard University. He holds MPA, MBA and BA degrees from the United States. He is a member of the International Honor Society of Beta Gamma Sigma. Mr. Carl Peng joined Fosun Pharma in 2014. He is currently Assistant to President and General Manager of International Department of the company, mainly responsible for cross boarder M&A and equity investments. Mr. Peng previously worked for GSK China in various functions such as Marketing, Sales, Market Access. Prior to that, Mr. Peng worked for Foxconn Technology Group in supply chain management.
Henriette Peucker works out of the Berlin and Brussels offices in the Corporate Affairs & Public Strategies Practice of Hering Schuppener/Finsbury. She focuses on advising companies in strategic stakeholder communications, especially on how to position themselves and advocate their interests in the political sphere. Among her clients are various global B2B and B2C companies that are invested in Europe and rely on handling complex regulatory matters. These includes merger analysis, state aid, trade disputes and cartels – the result of competition procedures by both the EU Commission and national competition authorities. Henriette joined the firm in 2010 from Deutsche Boerse Group where she was Head of European Public Affairs. Prior, she worked in investment banking in London and in public affairs in Paris and Brussels.
Kelly Pu is a Partner in our Private Equity practice and serves as the APAC co-head of our technology and cloud services businesses for financial investors. Based in Hong Kong, Kelly is also an expert in our digital capability, ESG, and retail practices.
With over 10 years of consulting experience, Kelly has supported global and regional asset managers in sector scans and commercial due diligences across industries such as technology and cloud services, business services, and retail. Furthermore, Kelly leads extensive work with private equity portfolio companies and Bain’s corporate clients, focusing on strategy, digital transformation, ESG, and overseas expansion opportunities.
Before joining Bain, Kelly held a position at Anheuser-Busch InBev’s APAC regional team. Kelly is an alumna of Tsinghua University, where she majored in Chemical Engineering.
Hong Qiu is Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer of Lazard Greater China. Ms. Qiu has over 20 years of experience in investment banking and private equity investment in Asia.
Ms. Qiu has advised on numerous cross-border M&A transactions involving Chinese companies, particularly in the power, energy and infrastructure sector. She is well-versed in China’s outbound M&A regulatory landscape, having close relationships with central and provincial SOEs and financing banks. She also represents international companies in their acquisition, strategic cooperation and divestment vis-à-vis Chinese parties.
Prior to joining Lazard, Ms. Qiu was a Managing Director at Morgan Stanley. Prior to that she worked at Citi as a Director. She also served as Senior Investment Officer at EMP Global managing the AIG Asian Infrastructure Fund.
Ms. Qiu is a CFA Charter holder, a member of Thunderbird Finance Advisory Committee. Ms. Qiu received a Master of Business Administration degree with Honors from Thunderbird, the American Graduate School of International Management.
Bin Shen is a Managing Director at Lunar and has been with Lunar for nearly a decade. Today, Lunar owns majority controlling stakes in numerous well-known apparel, food, beverage, lifestyle and entertainment businesses. Bin has more than a decade of private equity and M&A experience. Prior to Lunar, Bin worked across various roles at Guo Tai Jun An Securities and Capital One. Simon Tsang is a managing director in the Valuation Advisory Services practice, and is based in the firm’s Shanghai office. Simon has more than 18 years of valuation, private equity investment and tax advisory experience in China and Hong Kong.
Simon is experienced in providing valuation advice and deliverables for private equity clients, for merger and acquisition transactions, and for financial reporting and initial public offerings (IPO) purposes. Simon has extensive experience in valuation, including purchase price allocation analysis, intangible asset valuation, financial derivatives valuation, financial modeling, business and equity interest valuation for acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, financing, restructuring, IPO, tax, go-private transactions and financial reporting.
Simon has advised clients in a wide variety of industries, including consumer products, life sciences and health care, manufacturing, technology and telecommunication, media and real estate. He has particular expertise in private equity portfolio valuation and has previously worked for a private equity firm, where he was responsible for deal execution and investment analysis. He has delivered presentations and training on valuation topics at various professional events. Before joining Duff & Phelps, Simon was a Partner in Deloitte Financial Advisory Services in China. Earlier in his career, he worked for a private equity firm as well as an international appraisal firm.
October 12, 2020 (Shanghai, China) – Cedarlake Capital is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Wang Zheng as Chief Investment Officer and Managing Partner, effective November, 2020. Ms. Wang will take charge of Cedarlake’s private equity investment and fundraising activities.
Ms. Wang owns nearly 20 years of experience in the field of private equity investment and management consulting. Prior to Cedarlake, Ms. Wang was Partner at Cathay Capital responsible for private equity investment activities in China. She participated in the formation of several new funds and led multiple investments in the field of industrial technology, consumer technology, supply chain management and logistic services.
Ms. Wang also worked as the Partner for AGIC Capital and as Director in The Carlyle Group in her earlier investment career.
Ms. Wang holds an MBA degree from Kellogg School of Management and a bachelor’s degree from Fudan University.
Mr. Wang is a Managing Director of CITIC Capital Partners and has been with the Firm since 2007. Previously, Mr. Wang was an investment banker in the Shanghai office of Piper Jaffray, a leading U.S. middle-market investment banking firm. Prior to that, Mr. Wang worked in the Corporate Advisory division of PricewaterhouseCoopers. Mr. Wang earned a M.S. from Nanyang Technology University in Singapore and a B.S. from the Central University of Finance and Economics.

Mr. Nathan Yu has over 25 years of experience in global automotive and automotive parts enterprises. He currently is a managing partner of NIO Capital, an investment committee member, and is responsible for automotive industry fund investment and post-investment management. In addition, Mr. Yu is also responsible for overall investment strategy and supervision of day-to-day operations of the fund.

Mr. Yu Ning graduated from the University of Windsor in Canada with a master’s degree in industrial engineering. Before that, he obtained his bachelor of engineering from Taiyuan University of Science and Technology (TYUST) and has been awarded honorable master’s and doctor’s degree in vehicle engineering from China Agricultural University.
