Mark joined WiseTech Global in 2015 as an advisor on the IPO. Following the successful listing, Mark joined the group permanently as Deputy CFO, with a core focus on forecasting, reporting and process improvement. During Mark’s time at WiseTech, he has led the acquisition process and has been implementing and driving the integration process across acquired businesses. Prior to joining the WiseTech team, Mark spent almost 20 years with PwC in M&A focused roles on buy side, sell side due diligence and public market transactions across Europe and Australia. Mark is a Chartered Accountant and holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Leeds.
David Lang joined KKR in 2018 and is a Partner and Co-Head of KKR Australia and New Zealand. He is also the Head of the Private Equity team for KKR in Australia and New Zealand and has led KKR across a number of its investments, including The Arnott’s Group and Colonial First State. Prior to KKR, he was a founding member and partner of a global private equity fund based in London and New York.
Karen is an accomplished company director and is currently a non-executive director of ARB Corporation Ltd, Omni Bridgeway Ltd and B.B.M. Ltd. Her previous career was in investment banking and she was a Managing Director of UBS Australia and then Citigroup. Karen has been a member of the Takeovers Panel since 2015 and is a graduate of the AICD.
Maggie is Mergermarket’s APAC Associate Editor and Australia/New Zealand Bureau Chief. She joined Mergermarket Australia in 2017 and has since been covering corporate strategy, M&A, and private equity activities as a journalist and an editor. She manages the Australian bureau, supports Mergermarket’s APAC editorial team, and facilitates cross-platform collaboration under ION Analytics between Mergermarket and sister publications including Debtwire and Infralogic. She previously worked at The Australian and Reuters, starting her Australian journalism career at the Federal Parliamentary Press Gallery in Canberra. Maggie has been based in Sydney since 2013.
Currently editorial consultant to Dealreporter and director of Mergermarket Australia, Simon Segal established the Australian bureau of Mergermarket in 2005 where he was bureau chief and Asian editor of Dealreporter (2006-2009).
He has a PhD in the relationship between stakeholders and M&A which has been converted into a book Reframing Mergers and Acquisitions around Stakeholder Relationships: Economic, Political and Social Processes (Routledge Advances in Management and Business Studies). He has co-hosted the weekly Dealbook on the former Sky Business channel and has contributed M&A commentary to numerous Australian publications.
Simon has some 30 years experience in researching, editing, writing and commenting on financial issues, specialising in M&A since 2005.
Teresa is a professional non-executive director and chair of audit & risk committees with a portfolio of directorships that includes current and former roles with Seven West Media Ltd, Genex Power Limited, Shine Justice Ltd, Brighter Super, Energy Queensland, Gold Coast Hospital and Health Board Housing Australia. Teresa is a member of the Takeovers Panel and a Fellow of the AICD. Teresa is a former Non-executive Director of UN Women National Committee Australia Ltd and Opera Queensland, a former Chair of each of the Board of Taxation and the Business Law Section of the Law Council of Australia and a former member of the Foreign Investment Review Board. Teresa is also a former partner of each of Ashurst and Deloitte.
Matt joined Pacific Equity Partners in 2009. Prior to joining PEP, he was a consultant with Bain & Company in Australia. Matt was an Innovation Scholar at Macquarie University where he received a Bachelor of Commerce (Actuarial Studies) and was awarded the Vice Chancellor’s Commendation for Academic Excellence.
James has over 20 years experience in finance and corporate development, working in Sydney, London, Dublin, New York and Los Angeles before returning home to Sydney to take on the CFO at Ansarada.
Robert is a leading United States capital markets and mergers and acquisitions (M&A) lawyer in Australia. He specialises in US debt and equity offerings, including initial public offerings, and cross-border M&A. He recently retired from Sidley Austin, where he was a Global Co-Leader of Sidley’s capital markets practice from 2010 until 2023 and the Managing Partner of the Sydney office from 2007 until 2020.
Prior to this, he was partner at Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman. He began his career as a litigation lawyer at Skadden in New York and then Sydney. He also served as a Law Clerk to the Honorable Roger J. Miner on the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
